内容提要：

examine whether and how firm IT usage provides any information that helps investors better assess firm R&D capability and innovation success. We theorize and test the critical role of firm website usage in building up firm R&D capability and enhancing firm R&D innovative and commercial successes. With a sample of 2,840 U.S. firms, we report that firm website usage can significantly improve firm R&D capability and leverage the relationship between R&D investments and firm performance. Further analysis identifies that the effect of firm website usage is heterogeneous, depending on firm customer type, and is greater for business-to-consumer (B2C) firms. The findings of this study suggest that firm website usage conveys valuation relevant information that can help reduce the information asymmetry surrounding firm R&D disclosures and assist assessments of firm R&D capability and financial success.

本文探究的是：企业加强利用IT信息技术这一事实是否能够帮助投资者厘清其研发实力和创新成就。具体而言，本文主要强调企业的官方网站在其研发过程中所起到的关键作用。基于2,840家美国企业样本，本文发现：官网的使用会极大增强企业的研发能力并提升其财务业绩，但此效果的强弱是存在异质性的，主要取决于对象企业的类型，此效果在B2C类型企业中是较强的。这意味着：企业官网上传递出的相关信息能减少研发情况在披露时的信息不对称问题，从而使得投资者可以对企业的研发能力和财务业绩有一个更全面的评估，并最终达到估计其正确市值的目的。

徐碧霞，加拿大Concordia University会计学博士，加拿大Wilfrid Laurier University Lazaridis商学院副教授，她的研究领域为企业的市场估值，尤其聚焦于高科技企业的市场估值，她在企业信息披露、企业社会责任和企业舆论管理上很有建树，徐博士已在Accounting Perspective、Contemporary Accounting Research、Review of Accounting and Finance等会计学领域高质量期刊发表多篇论文。
